Opening Up

Opening Up

When the Guardian opened its doors to its readers for last month’s Open Weekend, we (James, Karolin, Chris, Dan and Nina) were there to draw the highlights. Director of the event Madeleine Bunting said “Curiosity and conviviality, the two Cs, were our watchwords.” She forgot ‘cartoons and colouring-in’ obviously, but we all had such a great time [...]

The Bigger Picture @ CSM

The Bigger Picture @ CSM

Chris and Dan were recently invited by our new neighbours, Central St Martins, to scribe a series of talks given to students on life outside the art college. The Bigger Picture featured five high profile speakers sharing their professional perspective on some of the mighty forces that shape our society, such as politics, economics, technology [...]

A River Runs Through It

A River Runs Through It

We recently created this Amazon-themed live scribe at an event organised by Google. While perhaps not geographically accurate, the river’s twists and turns allowed us to create nice ‘pockets’ of content for each of the speakers, culminating with explorer Ed Stafford’s harrowing account of his 2 year trek along the entire length of the Amazon. [...]

Vision On

Vision On

Chris, David, Seif and Karolin were over in Brussels for the Future Mobility Now Conference creating visuals for animations, presentations, live capture and post event documentation. Whew. If that wasn’t enough we thought it might be good to push ourselves even further and try a new way to capture and present scribing which we’re tentatively [...]

Turbo Charged!

Turbo Charged!

@Goodfornothing scribing for @bletchleypark @gnewtcargo and @foodcycle. If you’re a creative type who is tired of creating boring job for unappreciative clients then get yourself along to the next Good For Nothing and spend 48 hours with some of the smartest designers, developers and craftsfolk you’re ever likely to meet solving briefs for game changing [...]

BIG BAD BUDGET 2011

BIG BAD BUDGET 2011

Consultancy firm Deloitte asked Scriberia to illustrate their response to the UK budget as it happened. Throughout the afternoon as the details poured in and Deloitte’s accountants read through all the small print the images we produced were then distributed in press releases throughout the country to illustrate certain aspects of the announcement and how [...]

Scriberia are Good for Nothing

Scriberia are Good for Nothing

Last month Scriberia volunteered their time, together with a large diverse group of talented people, to see how much good we could do for nothing by helping out three awesome causes that needed a little bit of help. It was absolutely fantastic to see so many amazingly talented people busting their butts at the weekend [...]

Night Shift

Night Shift

Chris from Scriberia was out scribing at a couple of evening events last week in some of the swankiest spots in london. The first was for the Reputations Online Awards at the Hospital club and he was tasked with capturing the award results as they were announced on the night. The second event was at [...]

IBM Summit at Start

IBM Summit at Start

Dan, Chris, James and Karolin Schnoor were lucky enough to scribe at IBM’s summit ‘Smarter Business for a Sustainable Future’ held at Lancaster House. There was an amazing list of speakers, including Prince Charles, and what we learned from them and the debate over the course of the event was fascinating. We worked on nine [...]

Conversation Changing… Cannes Lions 2010

Conversation Changing... Cannes Lions 2010

After much build-up and a couple of heart-stopping late technical hitches, last week’s live digital scribe at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival was judged a success. In 45 minutes, Richard Pinder of Publicis Worldwide and Paul Kemp-Robertson and Jess Greenwood of Contagious explored the ways that smart brands are igniting, owning, confronting and subverting the [...]

Jammy Dodgers

Jammy Dodgers

Chris and Dan, assisted by Freya Harrison whose map and signage really provided the event with its distinctive look and feel, completed a successful evening at the first ever Google Jam last week. The scribe session lasted about an hour and a half – kicked off by Tom Uglow and Bruce Daisley on the creative [...]

Virgin on the ridiculous

Virgin on the ridiculous

Contrary to appearances, this stuff wasn’t produced for a product development session in the Virgin boardroom. Ever-inventive facilitator Tim le Lean cheekily used the ubiquity of the Virgin brand to frame a brainstorming game for his workshop participants – teams being asked to conjure up new Virgin ventures from a set of randomly chosen elements. [...]

From the archives…

From the archives...

Just having a pre-Christmas desk tidy and stumbled across some scribing James and I did for a large drinks company a good three or four years ago. Couldn’t find anything of mine that was cleaned up, but I thought I’d share a few of James’ illustrations. It’s funny how the images remain but the context [...]

Stress Monkeys

Stress Monkeys

Chris here with another update. I thought i would include this page as it was done on flipchart paper which  highlights the flexibility of a scribes skills working in portrait instead of the usual landscape … ach, who am I trying to kid. I’m putting it up as it has a stress monkey on it.

Google Zeitgeist Europe 2009

Google Zeitgeist Europe 2009

James and I put in a marathon session of scribing at Google Zeitgeist last week. The speakers and discussions came thick and fast and were all extremely rich in content, so we really had our work cut out, but I think we managed to produce the goods and we had some great feedback from delegates. [...]

Event Scribe

Event Scribe

This is a typical event scribe that tries to capture the flow of a conversation in detail.

Communicating the Museum

Communicating the Museum

Last summer I was scribing in Venice at Communicating the Museum, a conference looking at the relationship between the worlds of branding and museums. Drawing pictures in 34°C heat in front of a couple of hundred people and surrounded by Tintoretto masterpieces made it an interesting challenge. The line-up of speakers on day one included Robert Jones, Head [...]

Wilson’s Wacom Wonderland

Wilson's Wacom Wonderland

Anglo American held an event where some participants could not physically attend but were joining via conference call from South Africa. I captured the conversation by drawing directly into my computer on a wacom tablet and via a little bit of electric trickery the images were instantly transmitted to a secure url that could be [...]

Stay on the leader

Stay on the leader

Here is a bit of scribing I did for the Department of Transport. The participants split up into four groups and acted out various scenarios based on different leadership styles. It was a fun little workshop that everyone seemed to enjoy so I captured the event as four little comic panels that contain the content, the leadership style and the scenario that was acted out.
