Chris and Dan were recently invited by our new neighbours, Central St Martins, to scribe a series of talks given to students on life outside the art college. The Bigger Picture featured five high profile speakers sharing their professional perspective on some of the mighty forces that shape our society, such as politics, economics, technology and urbanisation. The idea was to help students gain a broader view, to encourage a curiosity beyond their art practice and inspire them to see their creative skills as a way of responding to the wider world.
The speakers were all great – and we experimented with using crayons for the first time as opposed to markers, which made an interesting change. A highlight for us was meeting Guardian cartoonist Martin Rowson and the license to be rude and disgusting that his talk gave us!
